Purpose of Assignment
The purpose of this assignment is to enable the student to rediscover his or her personal philosophy of nursing as it exists upon the completion of the baccalaureate nursing program.
 
Student Approach to Assignment
This assignment allowed me to reflect back on my time, experiences, and skills acquired while in the nursing program by enabling me to interpret what my new philosophy of nursing has become. As I am approaching the end of my undergraduate nursing degree, being able to re-examine my original nursing philosophy and visualize how it has evolved, has assisted me in being able to identify the ways I have grown as a student nurse. This assignment has successfully allowed me to reinstate what I feel nursing is and how my personal principles of nursing guide my practice.
 
Reason for Inclusion of this Assignment in the Portfolio 
This philosophy assignment required in my portfolio allows the reader to see my personal experiences and skills that I have acquired while being in the undergraduate nursing program at Old Dominion University. It also exhibits what I feel nursing is, ultimately highlighting how my perspective has evolved over the course of the program. The following end-of-program outcomes are identified below.
