Purpose of Assignment
The purpose of this assignment is to utilize the Health Planning Model to improve aggregate health and to apply the nursing process to the larger aggregate within a systems framework.

 

Student Approach to Assignment

My group that I was assigned to in order to assist the community was Resource Mothers. We spent several hours with underprivileged expecting and current mothers. We also were able to become part of a group to help fathers as well. Our goal while being involved with this group was to enhance knowledge regarding nutrition during pregnancy, milestones of their babies, complications during pregnancy, and ways to help with stressors involved with having a family. The aggregate we spent time helping was primarily located in Park Place. The first semester spent with the group of women and men primarily consisted of establishing a therapeutic relationship as well as defining learning objectives and needs that we could assist with. The second semester with this group was spent reaching the educational goals identified during the first semester. Our group was able to implement and provide healthy meals to the aggregate as well as provide educational material during teaching sessions.

 

Reason for Inclusion of this Assignment in the Portfolio

This paper is included in the portfolio as it shows the progress made throughout the year with our aggregate. This assignment also illustrates the effectiveness of our teaching throughout the semesters. This assignment also portrays the dedication and involvement of nursing students throughout the community and how we can assist with basic needs.
